With the blessings and support of the Chairman, Shri Mahant Devendra Dass Ji Maharaj and guidance and encouragement of the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Yashbir Dewan, the Department of Pharmacology, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (SGRRIM&HS) celebrated the National Pharmacovigilance Week from 17th to 23rd September 2024. On 17th September 2024, a walkathon was organized in SGRRIM&HS in which various faculty members and MBBS students participated with great enthusiasm. The significance of reporting of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) to improve patient safety was emphasized by the Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr Utkarsh Sharma, Vice Principal, Dr Puneet Ohri and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Dr Suman Bala. Banners and Pamphlets were disseminated amongst the patients of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital sensitizing them about the importance of ADR reporting for patient wellbeing. The ADR monitoring centre in the Department of Pharmacology, SGRRIM&HS monthly uploads the ADR reports to National Coordination Centre (NCC), Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Ghaziabad.
Furthermore, a Poster competition was organized by the Department of Pharmacology on 21st September 2024 in the College Auditorium of SGRRIM&HS in which the MBBS students showcased their talents by displaying posters on Pharmacovigilance Program of India and ADR Reporting. The Principal of SGRRIM&HS, Dr.Ashok Nayak played a crucial role in highlighting the importance of ADR reporting and requested the clinicians to join hands in improving patient safety. He also encouraged the MBBS students of 2022 batch who had actively participated in poster making competition which was judged by Dr. Sheenam Azad Professor Pathology, Dr. Mohan Dhyani, Prof and Head, Psychiatry and Dr. Iva Chandola, Professor, Microbiology department. The teaching staff of the department of Pharmacology including Head of the Department, Dr. Suman Bala, Professor, Dr. Shalu Bawa, Associate Professor, Dr .Henry James, Assistant Professors, Dr. Kavita, Dr. Chavi Jain, Dr. Shruti Malhotra, Senior Resident Dr. Sachin Panwar, Post graduate students, Dr. Sushrut Sharma and Dr. Pallavi Panwar, Tutors, Dr. Bighnesh Sachan, Dr. Rinki Joshi, Dr. Archana, Pharmacovigilance Associate, Mr. Bipin Tamta and Senior Technician, Mr. Rajiv Vassi and Clerk, Mr Sanjeev Gusain had played a pivotal role in the successful completion of the National Pharmacovigilance Week-2024 at SGRRIM&HS, Patel Nagar, Dehradun.
